Below are reminders and updates from the VBIF email sent to all families regarding documentation requests:

  • The Program serves as a payer of last resort, except in cases involving Medicaid or where otherwise prohibited by federal law. To help us support your family efficiently, please provide the admitted claimant’s primary health insurance information.
  • Because the Program is a secondary payer by statute, each admitted claimant should maintain primary health insurance coverage through a private insurance policy.
  • Last week, Program staff were made aware of a billing issue caused by CVS Pharmacy’s internal system, which prevented them from billing Alius Health as a secondary payer. This issue was not caused by any action or inaction by MCI Rising or the Program and could not have been anticipated. We are working closely with CVS to resolve the matter as quickly as possible.
